Gyzylarbat is a city located in the Balkan Province of Turkmenistan and serves as the administrative center of the Gyzylarbat District. It is situated northwest of the national capital, Ashgabat, at the terminus of a line of oases on the northern slope of the Kopet Dag mountain range extending toward the southeast. The city lies along the M37 highway, which provides a route to the Caspian Sea.
The city has undergone several name changes throughout its history, formerly known as Kyzyl-Arvat from 1881 to 1992, and Serdar from 1999 to 2022. As of 2022, the population was approximately 50,000 people, who are primarily of Turkmen ethnicity. Turkmen is the main language spoken in the region.
