Tursunzoda

Tursunzoda is a city located in western Tajikistan, situated approximately 60 km west of the capital city, Dushanbe. It lies near the border with Uzbekistan and is positioned in proximity to several rivers, including the Shirkent and Karatag to the east and west, as well as the Kofarnihon further to the east.

The city is primarily known for its aluminium smelting plant, TadAZ. According to 2020 estimates, the population of the city proper is approximately 55,700, while the total population including outlying communities is estimated at 298,800.
