Hisor

Tajikistan

Hisor is a city located in western Tajikistan, situated approximately 15 km west of the capital, Dushanbe. It serves as part of the Districts of Republican Subordination and was formerly the seat of the Hisar District. The city sits at an altitude ranging between 799 and 824 meters and is surrounded by high mountains.

The river Khanaka, which is a tributary to the Kofarnihon, flows through the town. As of 2020, the population for the city proper was estimated at 29,100, while the total population including outlying communities reached 308,100. The demographic composition as of 2002 included 81.6% Tajiks, 12.3% Uzbeks, and 3.6% Russians.
