Khujand is a city located in Tajikistan. It serves as the capital of the country's northernmost province, known as Sughd. The city currently holds the status of the second-largest urban center in Tajikistan.
Historically, the city was known by various names; it was formerly referred to as Leninabad from 1936 until 1991. It is also sometimes spelled as Khodjent in various records.
