Panj is a city located in southern Tajikistan, situated approximately 252 kilometres (157 mi) south of the national capital, Dushanbe. It is positioned along the Afghan border and lies on the north bank of the river Panj, which serves as the namesake for the town.
The city has a population of 12,500 residents. It serves as a regional settlement characterized by its proximity to the international border and its location along the river system.
