Kolkhozobod, now known as Balkh, is a town located in Tajikistan. It serves as the administrative capital of the Jaloliddin Balkhi District, situated in the south-west region of the Khatlon Province.
The settlement was renamed from Kolkhozobod (or Kolkhozabad) to Balkh in 2017. This name change distinguishes the town from the ancient city of Balkh, also known as Bactra, which is located in modern-day northern Afghanistan.
