Farkhor, also known as Parkhar, is a city located in southwestern Tajikistan. It serves as the capital of the Farkhor District within the Khatlon Region and is situated near the border with Afghanistan. The town has a population of approximately 25,300 residents.
The area is notable for hosting the Farkhor Air Base, which is located about 4 km southwest of the city. The region experiences extreme heat; while a record high of 44.4 °C (111.9 °F) was recorded in July 2021, a new record temperature of 45.1 °C (113.2 °F) was documented in July 2025.
