Murghob, also spelled Murghab, is the capital of the Murghob District located in the Pamir Mountains of Gorno-Badakhshan, Tajikistan. With a population of just under 7,500 residents, it serves as the only significant town situated in the eastern half of the Gorno-Badakhshan region.
The settlement is notable for being the highest town in Tajikistan, positioned at an elevation of 3,650 meters above sea level. It marks a key geographic point where the Pamir Highway crosses the Bartang river.
