Rayong is a city located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand and serves as the capital of Rayong province. It encompasses parts of the tambons Tha Pradu, Pak Nam, Choeng Noen, and Noen Phra within the Mueang Rayong district. As of 2016, the city had an estimated population of 64,256.
The region is a significant industrial hub, serving as a center for Thailand's chemical and automotive industries. Notably, it is the primary producer of the country's fish sauce and maintains a major fishing industry. The city also hosts a Ford Motor Company assembly plant, which opened in 2012 to expand the company's presence across the ASEAN area.
