Phu Wiang is a short, relatively isolated mountain range located on the Khorat Plateau in Northeastern Thailand. It is situated within the current area of Khon Kaen Province and is primarily designated as Phu Wiang National Park.
The mountain range features two arms extending in a horseshoe shape that almost encircle a wide valley. This valley historically served as the population center for the old Phu Wiang District, though it was split off in 2007 to form the new Wiang Kao District. The area now contains the paleontological digs and the Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum.
The site is most notable for being the location where dinosaur fossils were first discovered in Thailand. In addition to its paleontological significance, the region is also known as a home to ancient human settlements.
