Sakon Nakhon is a city located in the Isan region of Thailand. It serves as the capital city of both Sakon Nakhon Province and Mueang Sakon Nakhon District, with a population of approximately 76,000 residents.
The city is situated roughly 651 km (405 mi) northeast of Bangkok by road. Geographically, it covers the entire tambon of That Choeng Chum and portions of the tambons Ngio Don, Huai Yang, Dong Mafai, That Na Weng, and Hang Hong.
