Umphang is a district located in the southernmost part of Tak province in Thailand. It was officially established as an amphoe by Royal Decree on May 6, 1959.
The district serves as a primary administrative division within the southern region of the province. Its formal recognition and governance were codified under the Royal Decree Establishing Amphoe Umphang, BE 2502 (1959).
