Chiang Rai

Chiang Rai is the northernmost major city in Thailand, situated within the Mueang Chiang Rai District of Chiang Rai Province. The city has a population of approximately 70,000 people.

Established as a capital during the reign of King Mangrai in 1262 CE, the city is historically significant to the region. It is currently recognized by UNESCO's Creative Cities Network as a "Design City."
