Chiang Khong is a district (amphoe) situated in the northeastern region of Thailand's Chiang Rai province. The administrative seat of the district is located in Wiang.
The area is characterized by its geographical position, bordering six other districts within Chiang Rai province. To the north and northeast, the district is bounded by the Mekong River, which serves as a border with Laos. This connection to Laos is facilitated by the Fourth Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge.
