Providenciales is an island located in the northwest Caicos Islands within the Turks and Caicos Islands, which is a British Overseas Territory. It covers an area of 98 km2 (38 mi2) and serves as a primary geographic location for the territory.
The island is the third largest in the Turks and Caicos by area. As of the most recent island-by-island census published by the government in 2012, Providenciales had a population of 23,769, making it home to a majority of the total population of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
