Tartus

Syria

Tartus is a major port city located on the Mediterranean coast of Syria. It serves as the largest city within the Tartus Governorate and holds the distinction of being the second-largest port city in the country.

Historically, the city was under the governance of Latakia Governorate until it became its own separate governorate in the 1970s. The current population is approximately 458,327 people. During the summer months, Tartus serves as a popular vacation destination for many Syrians.
