Safita is a city located in the Tartus Governorate in western Syria. It is situated within the Syrian Coastal Mountain Range, specifically positioned on the tops of three hills and the valleys between them. Geographically, it lies to the southeast of Tartus and to the northwest of Krak des Chevaliers.
The city has a religiously mixed population consisting primarily of Alawites and Greek Orthodox Christians. According to the Syria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Safita had a recorded population of 20,301 during the 2004 census.
