Al-Shaykh Badr is a city located in western Syria within the Tartus Governorate. Situated at an altitude of 536 meters (1,759 feet), the town serves as the administrative center of its respective nahiya (subdistrict).
The town is predominantly populated by Alawites. According to the 2004 census conducted by the Syria Central Bureau of Statistics, the population of Al-Shaykh Badr was 9,486, while the broader subdistrict had a population of 47,982 as of 2008. The city is named after the shrine of a holy man, Shaykh Badr, which is located within the town.
