Arwad, also known as classical Aradus, is a town located on an eponymous island in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Syria. It serves as the administrative center of the Arwad Subdistrict (nahiyah), which consists entirely of this single locality.
The town is notable for being the only inhabited island in Syria. Geographically, it is situated approximately 3 km (1.9 mi) from Tartus, which is recognized as Syria's second-largest port.
