Idlib is a city situated in northwestern Syria. It serves as the capital of the Idlib Governorate and is positioned at an elevation of nearly 500 meters (1,600 ft) above sea level.
The city is located approximately 59 kilometers (37 mi) southwest of Aleppo and lies near the border with Turkey.
