Al-Bab is a city located in Syria within the Aleppo Governorate. It occupies an area of 30 square kilometres and sits at an altitude of 471 metres. The city is situated approximately 40 kilometres northeast of Aleppo and 30 kilometres south of the Turkish border.
According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics, Al-Bab had a population of 63,069 in 2004. This figure increased significantly during the Syrian Civil War, with the population surging to approximately 100,000 residents.
