Rankus, also known as Rankous, is a Syrian town and summer resort situated in the Damascus countryside. It is located within the Mount Qalamoun region (anti-Lebanon) in Syria, approximately 45 km from the capital city of Damascus. The town covers a total area of 22.277 km² and sits at an elevation ranging between 1650 and 2150 meters.
The region is characterized by a climate that is cool during the summer months and cold in the winter. Annual precipitation, including rain and snow, typically varies between 350 and 650 mm. During the winter season, the mountains surrounding the town are frequently covered with snow. According to the Syria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), the population of Rankus was recorded at 7,717 during the 2004 census.
