Jayrud (also known as Jairoud) is a city located in southern Syria within the Rif Dimashq Governorate. It is situated northeast of Damascus in the Qalamoun Mountains and serves as the administrative center of the Jayrud nahiyah, which includes four towns and villages with a combined population of 31,821.
The city's population was recorded at 24,219 during the 2004 census, and its inhabitants are predominantly Sunni Muslims. Nearby localities include ar-Ruhaybah, al-Qutayfah, and Muadamiyat al-Qalamoun to the southwest, as well as Yabroud, an-Nabek, Deir Atiyah to the north, and al-Qaryatayn to the northeast.
