Harasta, also known as Harasta al-Basal or Hirista, is a town and northeastern suburb located in the Rif Dimashq Governorate of Syria. Situated at an altitude of 702 meters, it serves as a residential area on the outskirts of the capital city, Damascus.
As of the 2007 census, Harasta had a population of 34,184 residents. Based on its geographical entity size, it ranks as the 43rd largest city in Syria.
