Abu Kamal, also known as Al-Bukamal, is a city located in eastern Syria within the Deir ez-Zor Governorate. It is situated along the Euphrates River and lies near the international border with Iraq.
The city serves as the administrative center for both the Abu Kamal District and its local subdistrict. A notable geographic feature nearby is the Al-Qa'im border crossing, which is located to the southeast of the city and connects to the town of Husaybah in Iraq's Al Anbar Governorate.
