Metapán is a city and municipality located in the northern region of the Santa Ana department in El Salvador. It serves as an important administrative area within the department, situated near the national borders of Honduras and Guatemala.
The city is the second largest urban center in the Santa Ana department, following the city of Santa Ana itself. Geographically and administratively, Metapán is divided into 29 distinct cantones.
