Ahuachapán is a city, district, and the capital of the Ahuachapán Department located in western El Salvador. It serves as the westernmost city in the country and is situated near the border with Guatemala.
The district, which includes the city itself, covers a total area of 244.84 km². As of 2007, the population was recorded at 110,511 people. The region is primarily an agricultural center known for its coffee production.
