Tambur is a city located in South Sudan.
The term "tambur" also refers to a fretted string instrument originating from Turkey and the former territories of the Ottoman Empire. There are two distinct variants of the instrument, which can be played using either a plectrum or a bow. A musician who plays this instrument is known as a tamburî.
