Juba is the capital and largest city of South Sudan. Located in the Central Equatoria region, it serves as the administrative center for both the nation and the Central Equatoria State. The city is situated along the banks of the White Nile.
As the most recently declared national capital, Juba covers a land area of 52 km2 (20 sq mi), while its metropolitan area extends to 336 km2 (130 sq mi). According to 2017 data, the city had a population of 525,953.
