Santigron is a Maroon village located in Lelydorp, Suriname. Situated along the Saramacca River, the settlement lies near the capital city of Paramaribo. It serves as a community for descendants of 18th-century runaway slaves who have preserved many aspects of their traditional Afro-American culture.
The village was founded in the middle of the 19th century by Jajasie Adoemakeë. According to local history, Adoemakeë worked at a nearby wood plantation and claimed ownership of the land following the death of the owner in 1861, though the original deed for the property was lost.
