Paranam is a town located in the Para District of Suriname. It was established in 1938 specifically to support the operations of a bauxite factory.
The industrial landscape of the town expanded in 1965 with the addition of an aluminium smelter. Both the bauxite and aluminium facilities ceased operations in 2017.
