Burao, also spelled Bur'o or Bur'ao, is a city located in the Togdheer region of Somalia. It serves as the capital of the Togdheer region and holds the distinction of being the second largest city in Somaliland.
The city is historically significant as the site where the declaration of an independent Somaliland took place on May 18, 1991.
