Guinguineo

Guinguinéo is a township and urban commune located in the Kaolack Region in central Senegal. It is situated approximately 22 km to the northeast of the city of Kaolack.

The area has a historical background involving a succession of kingdoms prior to 1956, with Maad Saloum Fode N'Gouye Joof identified as one of its most famous kings. Guinguinéo was officially established as a commune in 1956 and attained full municipality status in 1960, with Doctor Charles Ndiaye serving as the first mayor.
