Rufisque is a city located in the Dakar region of western Senegal. It is situated at the base of the Cap-Vert Peninsula, approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) east of the national capital, Dakar.
The city has a population of 295,459. While it historically served as an important port city in its own right, Rufisque is currently classified as a suburb of Dakar.
