Koidu Town is the capital and largest city of the Kono District, located in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone. Situated approximately 280 miles east of the national capital, Freetown, and about 60 miles north of Kenema, it serves as a significant urban center within the region.
The city is the fifth largest in Sierra Leone by population, following Freetown, Kenema, Bo, and Makeni. According to the 2015 census, Koidu Town has a population of 128,030 residents.
