Ankaran is a town located in the Littoral region of Slovenia within the Municipality of Ankaran. It is situated near the Italian border, positioned approximately 2.5 km from the border line and less than 5 km from the Italian town of Muggia, which is near Trieste.
The town is located about 6.5 km from Koper and 33 km from the Croatian town of Buje. Within the municipality of Ankaran, both Slovenian and Italian are recognized as official languages.
