Litija

Litija is a town located in the Litija Basin in central Slovenia. It serves as the seat of the Municipality of Litija and is situated in the valley of the Sava River, east of the national capital, Ljubljana.

The town lies on the border between the traditional regions of Upper Carniola and Lower Carniola. Geographically and administratively, the municipality is currently part of the Central Sava Statistical Region, having transitioned from the Central Slovenia Statistical Region in January 2014. The town has a population of approximately 6,500 people.
