Jesenice is the tenth-largest town in Slovenia, situated in the traditional province of Upper Carniola. It serves as the seat of the Municipality of Jesenice and is located along the southern side of the Karawanks mountain range, bordering Austria to the north.
The town is historically renowned as a mining center. Its development was primarily driven by its ironworks and metallurgy industries.
