Zagorje ob Savi is a town located in the Central Sava Valley in central Slovenia. It serves as the seat of the Municipality of Zagorje ob Savi and is situated within the traditional region of Upper Carniola. The municipality is currently part of the Central Sava Statistical Region.

The town is positioned in the valley of Medija Creek, which is a minor left tributary of the Sava River. Geographically, it lies approximately 52 km east of Ljubljana, 36 km southwest of Celje, and 6 km west of Trbovlje. The local population consists of about 7,000 people, including the hamlets of Toplice and Podvine.
