Vitanje is a small town located in northeastern Slovenia. It serves as the seat of the Municipality of Vitanje and is situated on the Hudinja River, north of the city of Celje.
Historically, the area is part of the traditional region of Styria and is currently included in the Savinja Statistical Region. The town became a regional center starting in the 11th century and was officially granted market rights in 1306.
