Šentjernej is a small town located in southeastern Slovenia. It serves as the administrative seat of the Municipality of Šentjernej and is situated within the traditional region of Lower Carniola.
The town lies in the center of the Šentjernej Plain, which constitutes a portion of the larger Krka Flat. Geographically and administratively, it is currently included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.
