Tampines is a regional centre located in the East Region of Singapore. It serves as a major residential and commercial hub within the historical region of Tanah Merah, bordered by Bedok and Paya Lebar to the west, Pasir Ris to the north, Changi to the east, and the Straits of Singapore to the south.
As of 2025, Tampines is the most populous planning area in Singapore, with a population of 290,090 distributed across its five subzones. The local terrain is notably flat as a result of large-scale sand quarrying that took place during the 1960s.
