Hougang, archaically spelled Aukang, is a mature residential town and planning area located in the North-East Region of Singapore. It serves as a significant urban residential hub within the country's geographical layout.
The area is notable for being the largest housing estate in Singapore when measured by land area. As of 2018, it was home to a population of 247,528 residents. Hougang is bordered by several other districts, including Sengkang to the north, Geylang to the south, Bedok to the southeast, Toa Payoh to the southwest, Serangoon to the west, and Paya Lebar to the east.
