Skara is a locality and the seat of Skara Municipality located in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. As of 2023, the city has a population of 11,475 inhabitants.

Despite its relatively small size, Skara is recognized as one of the oldest cities in Sweden. It possesses a long history involving both education and ecclesiastical institutions, notably housing Katedralskolan, which is one of the country's oldest high schools. Additionally, the former county of Skaraborg was named after a fortress situated near the town.
