Munkedal is a locality situated in Sweden and serves as the seat of Munkedal Municipality within Västra Götaland County. As of 2010, the population of the area was recorded at 3,718 inhabitants.

The town is notable for its historical and athletic connections. It was the birthplace of Olympian Erland Koch and the hometown of Detroit Red Wings ice hockey player Joakim Andersson. Additionally, the Battle of Kvistrum occurred in the vicinity of the town.
