Gällivare is a locality situated in Norrbotten County within the province of Lapland in northern Sweden. It serves as the seat of Gällivare Municipality and was originally founded during the 17th century.
As of 2010, the town had a population of 8,449 inhabitants. It is part of a larger conurbation that includes the nearby towns of Malmberget and Koskullskulle, which together account for approximately 15,000 residents.
