Kalmar is a city located in the southeastern part of Sweden along the coast of the Baltic Sea. It serves as the seat of Kalmar Municipality and is the capital of Kalmar County, which consists of 12 municipalities with a total population of 236,399 as of 2015.
The city had a population of 41,388 in 2020. It ranks as the third largest urban area within the province and cultural region of Småland.
