Värnamo, historically known as Wernamo, is a town located in Jönköping County in the southern region of Sweden. It serves as the seat of Värnamo Municipality and is situated on the river Lagan, just north of Lake Vidöstern.
As of December 31, 2020, the town had a population of 19,822 inhabitants. The name Värnamo is derived from the old Swedish words "värn," meaning sconce, and "mo."
