Halmstad is a port, university, industrial, and recreational city situated at the mouth of the Nissan river in the province of Halland on the Swedish west coast. It serves as the seat of Halmstad Municipality and functions as the capital of Halland County.
Located approximately midway between the cities of Gothenburg and Malmö, Halmstad is ranked as Sweden's 19th-largest city by population. As of 2020, the city had a population of 71,422 out of a total municipal population exceeding 100,000.
