Hudiksvall is a city located in Hälsingland, Gävleborg County, Sweden. It serves as the seat of Hudiksvall Municipality and is situated along the E4 highway on the east coast of the country. The city lies deep inside the bay known as Hudiksvallsfjärden, positioned approximately 80 km south of Sundsvall and 130 km north of Gävle.
As of 2024, the city has a population of 16,792 inhabitants. It is recognized as one of Sweden's 80 largest urban areas and holds the distinction of being the largest urban area in Hälsingland. The municipality surrounding Hudiksvall includes several communities, such as Delsbo, Iggesund, Enånger, Njutånger, Näsviken, and Sörforsa.
The city is also known by the nickname "Glada Hudik," a term that emerged in the 19th century. This name originated from reports of the city's lively social life and its reputation for friendly hospitality.
